(More customer reviews)This thing is great. Small, light, and easy to use from anywhere on the foredeck of our 23-foot wide catamaran. It really makes it so much easier to watch the anchor going up or down when we can walk out to one of the bows instead of standing back toward the mast where the deck controls are. The buttons give good control, but the operation is not quite as precise as using the air-linked foot controls. With the foot controls we can let out one or two more links of chain, but with the remote there is more run-on and 5 or 6 links go in or out with the shortest button-push we can manage. Still very usable, and really a few inches doesn't make much difference except for the final few when stowing the anchor on the bow roller. And that always seems to work out just fine. It also seems to work a little bit better if you point the remote at the receiver. Not really a problem, but we may experiment next season with re-locating the antenna to a more exposed position.
We've tied two loops of string to our remote, a short loop that goes around our wrist that allows us to hold the remote in one hand and push the buttons that thumb. The second loop is longer and goes around our neck, allowing us to walk around and still use the remote at a moment's notice.
We used the remote daily for 6 months on one set of batteries -- so they last at least that long.
My wife says "I can't believe I didn't make you buy this for me sooner!"
